Version updates can be installed from within Blender ( Preferences > Add-ons) using the Addon Updater system. If you want unique materials for both objects, click on the 2 next to the material name in in the Shader Editor or Properties Panel > Material Properties and a duplicate copy of the material will be created. This means that if you change the material in the Shader Editor or Properties Panel, you change the material for both objects. When you select another object and assign it the same material, that material will then have two users. Clicking on a button will assign or replace the material on the selected object. In the N-Panel > QMM, you see the sections Noble Metals, Base Metals & Alloys, and Extras. Select an object in your view, and click a button to assign that material to it.
